First Friday Art Stroll May 2015

Be sure to check out the Downtown Provo First Friday Art Stroll!! Come see some amazing artwork and live music. Several venues throughout University Ave and Center Street...oh and did I mention, it's FREE??!! Date night anyone? Most of these venues will have free food to munch on. Seriously, you need to check this out! Start at the Utah County Health and Justice Building for the Utah County Art Board's Spring Fine Art Show (151 S University Ave). Receive a map of all the other venues and stroll along.

Plus the cool part about this month's art stroll is the ART CHASE! It's kind of like a humongous game of "I spy". Participate and you can score some awesome prizes from local Provo companies.

UVU Painting Club

So this semester, since obviously I don't have enough to do in my life, I formed and organized the Painting Club at UVU! I am the official founder and current president. I am collaborating with the entire Visual Arts department at UVU, as well as the Utah County Arts Board (of which I am now the Publicity Chair), and the Provo Downtown Alliance. Part of our mission with the Painting Club is to help promote current art students and their work. We are building a list of local businesses and venues to display our art. You can find our art at the Coffee Pod in Provo, Ginger's Garden Cafe in Springville, and Purez Salon and MediSpa in Provo! If you are an artist and want to build your artist resume or just want to get your work out there, find us on facebook and we will add you to our mailing list of upcoming art shows in the area!

UVU Student Art Show 2015

after nearly 4 years of submitting to the student art show...I FINALLY got in! I used the same piece from Touchstones. Be sure to check it out: Opening reception will be March 24th from 6-8pm at the Woodbury Art Museum.

AmBank Invitational Art Show

I submitted one of my paintings into the AmBank Invitational Art show that my painting teacher Sue Parkinson has organized to help raise money for a scholarship fund. This show is AMAZING! It is at the AmBank located at 3670 North University Provo, UT. Sue was able to get a bunch of local artists and students to donate artwork to display and sell. The show runs now through Jan 19th. Seriously!! If you can make it out there to check it out...

Warp and Weave UVU Magazine Fall submissions

I entered this piece into the Warp and Weave fall submission, and it got in! This was my final project for water media III a year ago. It was a very emotional project because I was trying to convey a lot of the traumatic that I had been going through at the time.

New Painting Series: Virtues

So I am still entering painting shows and contests here and there, but I have been putting most of my focus into my BFA portfolio. I applied last term and was "conditionally" accepted...meaning I had to work on my portfolio and make it more cohesive. Since I changed my focus from Illustration to Drawing and Painting not so long ago, my portfolio was a bit scattered. I have a new series that I have been working on to help tie things together for me art-wise. I call it "Virtues" based on the heavenly virtues. (Spoiler Alert...I am planning another series to go with it -- "Vices", might make for a pretty cool show sometime eh?)
